You may have noticed the use of the term, Website Development throughout this website. Web design is just that, designing a website. Web development on the other hand encompasses all of the aspects of a good website.
This page will explain all that I do at City Web Development and will help you better understand all that goes into creating a website. At City Web Development, every website starts off like a blank painter's canvas. No two websites are exactly alike.
Website Design
Every website created by City Web Development are designed from the ground up. Certain elements and features from other websites that a client likes may be incorporated into the website, but no site is ever created from a template. Every website is as unique as the individual who owns it. Every website makes a statement. That's the philosophy at City Web Development.
Website Re-Design
Website re-design is cheaper than you think! The basic elements are there, and some fresh graphics and a few minor updates are sometimes all that are needed. Although sometimes a website could be "freshened up", often it is best to start over. There are so many factors to consider: Updated content, valid HTML, relevancy to today's needs, etc. Ask for a FREE quote!
Domain Registration
Domain Registration is currently offered at only $10/year. Your domain name will be YOURS and not mine, and can be transferred to your own registrar at any time. You may wish to purchase and maintain your domain name on your own. It depends on you. I make no profit on domain registration. I do it as a service to my customers.
Website Hosting
You have a web site. You need a place to put it. We've got you covered!
Your website will be hosted for FREE on my leased server for 12 months. After 12 months your site can remain on my server for only $3.00 per month, payable semi-annually ($18.00) or annually ($36.00).
Your website will be hosted on super-fast, up-to-date servers which are monitored 24/7 so there will be virtually no downtime at all. I have been using this same service for years and have had nothing but good results and fast connections.
There is an exception to the web hosting fee. If you are a "regular" client and I am performing regular, routine maintenance or updates on your website the hosting fee will be waived.
Basic Search Engine Optimization
Upon completion of your website, I will submit your site to several of the top search
engines including Google, Yahoo, Bing, and more. Your website will include proper heading tags and image titles, valid HTML, and other relevant / appropriate content. This is BASIC Search Engine Optimization (SEO). SEO is a technique used to help with search engine placement and ranking. Basic SEO
is included in all web development projects.**
** Although I have achieved decent results in the past, and will
work hard to optimize your site's ranking, I can make no guarantee
regarding search engine placement or ranking.
Advanced Search Engine Optimization
Thorough site scrutiny and persistent research is required in order to assure a better position on major search engines, and therefore, drive more traffic to your website. Continuous SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and promotion can be very time consuming, but very rewarding when done properly. I offer both basic and advanced SEO services on new and existing websites.
Detailed monthly reports and information will be provided when you sign up for this service.
Advanced Search Engine Optimization starts at $50/month. There may be an additional (one-time) fee for existing websites, and in some cases, a complete re-do may be required. The website is likely not optimized when I get it and this work needs to be done before continued SEO can be performed. If $50 a month sounds expensive it's not. Over a 6 month period it only comes to $300, and this is what some "do this for a living" SEO companies charge PER HOUR! Read the next paragraph.
There are professional SEO services all over the internet, and you can expect to pay anywhere from $500 - $3,000 PER MONTH, and for the most part, they DO get results. Their rates are anywhere from $100 - $400 per hour. If you have this kind of budget you are probably not reading this and not looking at this website. Certainly if your budget is in this range I can still help. My (day job) employer has agreed to allow me flexibility and extra time off if need be to take on extra web development projects. Why am I telling you this? Because I want you to know I am just a Working Joe like you, trying to make ends meet. I have developed somewhat of a talent in the web development business and I can use these talents to your benefit.
What I offer is a bit of my time and knowledge to give your website a BOOST. I will spend time on your website every month analizing your traffic statistics and adding appropriate content using carefully selected key words and key phrases. If needed, I will establish a blog on your website for this purpose. Fresh (and relevent) content is very important for continued success. Aside from paying for ads on search engines, which can cost a fortune over time, good, solid Search Engine results are best achieved over time. 3 months is a good window, and 6 months of regular SEO is even better. It does take time to establish your website as a trusted, known web presence.

Logos / Graphics
A custom logo and unique graphics can be designed for your website if you do not have a logo already, or if you want to go after a fresh new look! Every website uses its own graphics, made specially for that website.
Shopping Carts / E-Commerce
I can customize a shopping cart to fit your needs. Whether you sell hand-crafted items you make yourself, or you sell manufactured items or digital goods, I can help you. There are many free E-Commerce scripts out there but many features that you might require may involve purchasing more sophisticated software. I will discuss your needs and determine the requirements at the time of consultation.
Flash Design
Flash design will be quoted on an individual basis, according to your needs. Flash is not my specialty, but I can provide you with simple flash animations and/or introduction pages. More elaborate flash projects may be provided (outsourced) at an additional cost.
Due to the percentage of non-flash enabled browsers out there it is possible to alienate a significant number of potential customers. Flash is best avoided in website development, but there are exceptions.
Website Maintenance
All of the websites designed by City Web Development come with a limited maintenance agreement (slight modifications, corrections, etc. for a limited time). If your website will require regular updating or maintenance, a plan can be worked out for a reasonable fee.
